Similar to rain

The selected ravings of a most peculiar young man.

On the one hand, I'm neither sleeping nor eating well at all lately. Its not by choice, I'm just not sleepy (though I am often exhausted) and not hungry (though I am often a little woozy). I don't know what's up exactly, but it isn't anything good, I imagine.

On the other, I'm in a relatively good mood. I'm working (painting a house) five to seven hours a day in the sun, which has given me the farmer's tan I tried so hard to avoid. I'm having fun with friends and family when I'm not exhausted, and I haven't spoken to my father in a week. All good there.

And on the superfluous third hand, we have this. It makes me sick, there's no other word for it.

Hoorah! *collapse*

I drove back to KC today. Last night, I was trying to get to sleep and I got hit by insomnia, hard-core. Which sucked particularly much because I had to do this eight-hour drive today. I laid in bed and tried to sleep for quite a while, and then came to an interesting conclusion.

At 3 a.m. this morning, I looked at the clock and just said, "Fuck it, I'm going now." So I packed up my stuff and drove off into the night.

I'm actually a little bit surprised that I made it through the whole trip as smoothly as I did, though I will admit that the last hour would have been tough without Peggy's "Music that Doesn't Exist" mix, which helped keep my awake behind the wheel. Props to Pegs!

The other technique I discovered (I don't remember how, exactly) to keep myself fully conscious was to stick my head out the window and leave it there for about ten seconds. Something about wind rushing at your face at eighty miles an hour wakes you up. Well, it wakes me up, anyway.

The important thing about this is that I proved it, once and for all: Fuck you, sleep! I don't need you!

And now, I'm going to collapse into bed. ^_^
